I recently purchased a spares or repairs Oculus Quest 2 headset from eBay for the ridiculously low price of $18 including shipping. I wasn’t even expecting this thing to turn on.

When the device arrived, to my surprise it looked to be in great condition. No dings or signs of abuse. Plugging it in, the charge LED instantly lit up and on holding the device to my face the battery charging screen suddenly appeared. The display showed no signs of defects and the lenses were without a scratch too. What could possibly be wrong with this device then to warrant the low price?
I’d heard of Quest 2 devices stuck in an infinite boot loop with seemingly no way to resolve it. I was half expecting that would be the case with this device. Once the battery had enough charge, I tried to boot it up. What first appeared was the old Oculus logo a relic of a time before Meta rebranded the headset
